Ever since DING has been updated from 1:92-1 → 1:93-1, it keeps moving my icons to the upper left corner once it comes out of sleep. I was hoping the latest [Stable Update] 2025-03-05 would fix it since the extension was updated days before that but it didn’t happen.
I have two icons on my desktop. Up left is the Recycle bin and bottom left is a shortcut to one of my LibreOffice Calc documents.
When I boot the system up in the morning, all icons are in the correct spot. But during the day when GNOME shuts off the monitor after 5 minutes of inactivity (‘Automattic screen blank’ in the energy settings) and the display comes back, the bottom left icon has suddenly been moved right below the recycle bin in the upper left corner.
I can manually drag down the icon but as soon as the display shuts off again, it’s back in the upper left corner. Has anyone else experienced this?
Nah, I haven’t installed it on my own. It came with the Manjaro installation and it’s in fact listed in the ‘extra’ repository. So it’s no AUR issue (I’d say).
$ pacman -Ss gnome-shell-extension-gtk4-desktop-icons-ng
extra/gnome-shell-extension-gtk4-desktop-icons-ng 1:93-1 [installed]
A fork from Desktop Icons NG that is ported to Libadwaita and Gtk4, with several enhancements.
When I checked the gitlab issue tracker for DING yesterday, it didn’t mention the problem. That is why I decided to post in the support forum. Upon checking again just now, I found an issue reported in the tracker describing the problem.
It’s a bug which has been introduced with version 1:93-1. Let’s hope it’ll be fixed soon.
