it sucks, especially with the upcoming GTA6.
the anti cheat itself is compatible with Linux but has not been enabled by Rockstar.
either way, what is the consensus about Kernel level anti cheat on Linux; is it a security/privacy concern?

I would be definitely concerned if the kernel has enabled such low level access for some stupid corporation. Not everything is gaming. And such proprietry ■■■■ should not be encouraged. And then the security - keyword Crowndstrike.
If somebody really needs it i guess there can be made special gaming kernels for this. Just like we now nave normal and realtime kernels, the latest for the minority oof users that edit video or audio. But for the masses it is a big no-no for me.
i read this thread, and if i understood correctly, according to this person’s explanations it’s not a concern on Linux.
What kernel level anti cheat on Linux?
what do you mean?
some are fine and others are not?
No, it doesn’t exist.
At least singleplayer is still working, hopefully we can at least play GTA6 in Singleplayer.
I just wrote a bad review about GTA 5, we should review bomb rockstar for this bad decision.
This Topic should be in the gaming area.
i don’t think i will buy the game just for the story mod.
coming from rdr2,gta5 story felt short and rushed.
i doubt they care about bad reviews, everyone knows what GTA is about and everyone is anticipating and excited for the new release, including hardware companies and vendors.
and the decision of not including Linux in the new anti cheat(if not reverted)+hardware banned modders, will probably increase Playstation purchases.

Compared to GTA San Andreas i would agree. But it was much better as the Story from GTA4.
Without Multiplayer access to GTA 6 i would thinking twice before i buy it,
but when the Singleplayer Campaign is on the same level as the other old titles…
You could say the same, before Helldivers2 got review bombed… and after the rating went down, the PSN account restriction was instant history.
But for sure, when everyone agree to everything… then you can be sure that we will see this in GTA6.
i might leave a bad review on steam but it will be difficult for them to back down after claiming:
“Steam Deck does not support BattlEye for GTA Online.” which is apparently false.
what we’re seing here seems like a Beta test for GTA6 which is great if you use Windows.
How is this great, to have a dangerous security hole related to a low level Kernel access tool, where the program per mistake or a attacker destroys your system?
I still could play GTA on my Windows10 Partition, but not with a potential vulnerability around my system.
I will evade other games that support this function.
I don’t approve of this kind of anti cheat, but the initiative of trying to have a cleaner game and possibly bring " next gen" content to pc.
It’s just like the initiative to stop pedophiles by breaking all the encryption in the internet and big brother eavesdropping everybody.
