A very good day to you all.
I wanted to go ahead and simply reinstall my computer etc… So, as always, I transferred the Manjaro ISO to a USB stick and booted. I recently switched to an AMD Ryzen 5700X3D, did the necessary bios update for it, so far ok. The current Manjaro KDE ISO does not seem to load the graphics card driver under AMD, so very low screen resolution etc… I had also installed the system as a test, but the installation of the AMD graphics card driver fails. On my profile you can see the necessary information, which hardware is installed in my computer. The mainboard, for example, is an Asus PRIME-X370-PRO.
Best regards and have a nice Sunday.

It’s possible you might need to reconfigure the graphics hardware now that you have updated your BIOS. Perhaps the card is no longer active, or needs a graphics priority of some kind to be set before appropriate drivers can be installed.
This is only a guess, and probably only one of many scenarios possible. I suggest providing enough information for others to at least make an educated guess.
As an infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements; in particular, the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:
The Update Announcements should be checked frequently for important update related information.
These announcements contain a Known Issues and Solutions section and should generally be checked before posting a request for support.
Output of the following command formatted according to forum requirements (see links above) may be useful for those wishing to help:
inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --filter --no-host --width
Be prepared to provide more information and outputs from other commands when asked.
Regards.

Hello, thank you very much for the quick reply.
What I can say in any case, the Manjaro KDE ISO, Xahea 24.1.2 (2024-11-04) boots for example with the correct monitor resolution and the graphics card driver in this case AMD. What I can do, I boot from the new KDE ISO and submit system information. The bios is set up correctly etc… However, other distributions boot correctly.

Well, let’s start with some system information as per the command previously given, and then see what others might have to say.
Perhaps someone with a similar system can offer some advice.
Regards.

I had also installed the new ISO normally on the computer as a test. The command:
sudo mhwd -a pci free 0300
In this case, this message appears in the console:

I can confirm this: Xahea ISO everything correct, new ISO (Yonada) without AMD driver. No changes made to the system. Graphics card RX 580.

This might be related to Graphical interface might not start due to missing libpixbufloader-svg.so listed under Known Issues and Solutions in the 2024-11-30 Update announcement;
If that’s the case, this might help solve it;
sudo gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache
Otherwise, if it is actually an issue with the ISO, or something else entirely, let’s see if @philm can shed any light on it.

Did I understand the following sequence of events correct?
you installed the system - this worked?
you could boot the system and everything worked?
then you tried to install or update a graphics driver - even though everything did work?
The first thing after a working fresh install should be to refresh the list of mirrors and then run a full system update.
using pacman this would be:
sudo pacman-mirrors -c Germany
or
sudo pacman-mirrors -f
and then
sudo pacman -Syu
Then you can reboot and turn your attention to the driver you want to change.
But why would you want to - if everything works?
Hello, I’ll try to express myself more clearly. I apologize if I am expressing myself incorrectly or unclearly or something…
So the current Manjaro KDE ISO does not seem to load the free AMD driver correctly. In the GRUB menu you can select the free and non-free driver, in this case the free driver. Then comes the boot process, where the correct monitor resolution is already set because the driver has been loaded, etc… With the ISO, you end up on the desktop, but with a monitor resolution of 1024x768. So the graphics card seems to be in Vesa mode? Then I simply installed Manjaro on the computer anyway in the hope that the driver would then be loaded. Exactly the same result, this time the full resolution of the monitor is set correctly. But the graphics card still seems to be without function, i.e. virtually non-existent. I always do these steps to configure the mirrors out of habit anyway. @anon29113220 also confirms that the free graphics card driver is not loaded.

refresh mirrors and full system update?
or just the mirror refresh?
How do you determine that?
You could do an
inxi -zv8
from the now installed system - it would show which driver is used
mhwd
could also show you what is currently installed, no?
In your previous inxi
(from the live system) I saw a modesetting driver.
I have no real hardware system to check this on - only Manjaro VM’s.
I’ll just install Manjaro quickly on my computer, then I’ll get back to you.
Best regards.
I was under the impression that you had it installed already and where looking for the solution to a problem.
But yes - without actual data from a current actual system all would remain speculation.

Lack of linux-firmware
in the images …
So …
We have the previous manjaro-firmware becoming deprecated and removed.
We also have kernels like linux66 directly depending on linux-firmware.
But kernels like linux612 do not.
Its in there lies the issue methinks.
( Yonada probably needs to be re-released. )

The command:
pamac install linux-firmware
Solves the problem, restarted the computer and the graphics card works properly again. Thank you very much!

When will the repaired ISO be available? I want to do a fresh installation on a second computer soon.
pamac install linux-firmware
will not be possible in the live system because you would have to reboot.
I have of course installed the firmware on an installed system.
Kind regards.

I imagine you won’t have too long to wait.
Keep an eye on the following thread;
I will re-release 6.12 ISOs by adding linux-firmware to it. Have to check why those got not installed and check why they are now optional in newer kernels.
