Grafik wird gefunden, aber SDDM startet nicht ("Failed to read display number from pipe")

Hallo,

seit längerem habe ich ein Problem, dass ich mein Manjaro-System nicht mehr grafisch unter KDE nutzen kann, da offenbar der SDDM nicht mehr auf die Grafik zugreifen kann.

Das System an sich fährt hoch; so kann ich mich…

  • …sowohl via ssh als auch…
  • …via Konsole am Laptop selbst ([Alt]+[F…]) einloggen.

Das System habe ich immer wieder mal aktualisiert, was zwar funktionierte, aber leider keine Verbesserung brachte.

Da das System aber hoch fährt und zugreifbar ist, konnte mir ein Linux-Versierter Freund heute immerhin remote soweit helfen, wenigstens den Fehler an sich zu identifizieren; für die Lösung hatte er erst einmal aber leider auch keine Idee.

Wie es aussieht, wird kein Screen für die Ausgabe gefunden, s. Ende des logs:

Mir ist leider nicht klar, was da schief läuft.

Hi, wie hast du das hinbekommen? Es scheint, dass dein System VESA-Treiber anstelle Intel- oder AMD-Treiber verwendet? Nur eine Idee, du könntest überprüfen, ob die richtigen Intel und AMD Treiber installiert sind:

der vesa treiber ist ganz bestimmt nicht der richtige
keine Ahnung wie das passieren konnte

Aber ja, gegnerischer vesa Treiber(?) für die i915 GPU scheint mir auch etwas seltsam - oder geht es dabei nur um den Standard der Auflösung?

Und was für ATI- Karten geladen werden muss, weiß ich auch nicht. Zwei Treiber (1× ATI, 1× Radeon) scheint mir aber sich nicht so Ganz korrekt.

Auch weiß ich nicht, wann eigentlich welche Grafik vom System angesprochen wird, also wann die integrierte Intel i915 und wann die ATI Radeon “Add-On” Grafikkarte.

Versuche ich mich nachher mal etwas über die Themen zu belesen.

Trotzdem vielen Dank - ich werde dem mal nachgehen.
Ist auf jeden Fall ein Ansatz, mal der Frage nachzugehen, wann wie welche GraKa angesprochen wird, wenn ich wieder ein “sauber funktionierendes” System habe. :blush:

Gute Frage - ich habe nur “Verdachtsmomente”.
Zwei Dinge sehe ich als potentiell problematisch an:

  1. Wie eingangs bereits erwähnt, habe ich (via KDE-GUI-Settings, also mit den KDE-Boardmitteln) irgendwann letztes Jahr versucht, das Design des SDDM anzupassen, was auch nur mäßig gut funktioniert hat. Da es im Februar ein SDDM-Update gab und auch im Februar der SDDM anfing, nicht mehr vernünftig zu starten, kann das durchaus zumindest ein Teil des Problems sein.
  2. Ich hatte mal mit TigerVNC einen grafischen VNC-Zugang eingerichtet, da das eine Zeitlang ein für mich sinnvoller Zugang war. Leider war das aber auch nicht so wirklich ohne und hatte ein paar Eingriffe notwendig gemacht… - hatte ich auch ohne Hilfe nicht hin bekommen. Ich denke, das war auch nicht die beste Idee…

Gestern habe ich das leider nicht mehr geschafft, will ich aber nochmal ausprobieren.

Allerdings bin ich gerade schon am Überlegen, ob es eventuell nicht mehr Sinn macht, das home-Verzeichnis zu sichern und dann Manjaro neu aufzusetzen, um sicher zu sein, ein sauberes System zu haben, mit dem ich dann etwas “vorsichtiger” umgehe.

Gerade anfangs hab’ ich ja doch viel herum probiert und auch so einigen Quark gemacht.
Ich hoffe, dass ich wenigstens so viel gelernt habe, dass ein zweiter Versuch dann besser läuft. :laughing:
