Got scary error message on first update, but forum saved me

I installed manjaro sway a week ago, but messed something up and so reinstalled today. When doing the initial package update, I got this message that had not appeared the first time I installed, which freaked me out:

error: GPGME error: No data
error: failed to synchronize all databases (invalid or corrupted database (PGP signature))

Luckily, a search for that error brought up this post from the manjaro forum:

https://forum.manjaro.org/t/root-tip-how-to-mitigate-and-prevent-gpgme-error-when-syncing-your-system/84700?u=john123

Going through the steps fixed the issue.

I’m writing this post just because I’m curious about why this would happen on a fresh install a week after doing an install from the same .iso without any problem? It was literally the very first time I did a package upgrade just after installing. Does it mean the remote server in the meantime got a corrupt signature or something? Sorry if I sound like a noob, I am!

Or something.

It was probably because it was installed at a latter date. Maybe not long, but later is later, nonetheless.

Does that mean I should re-download the .iso to make sure it is fresh? I did check if the version number had changed and it hadn’t. So I did not flash it again to the usb. Is that what I should’ve done?

That’s ab-so-lutely fine. In my opinion, you need to worry.

Did you mean, “I don’t need to worry?”

Yes. Indeed. Sorry. My bad.

Few! Thanks for your help.
