Gnome Media sharing no longer plays videos on my TV, but I can browse the files & folders.
The TV is Samsung Smart TV UE40MU6120
I am guessing this is down to rygel (v45.1) being updated on or after [2025-12-08 stable] which was the set of updates i ran this morning on my PC that triggered media sharing to fail. (yes, I was lagging behind)
The same issue is confirmed on a separate computer (laptop) also with Manjaro Gnome, which has been kept up to date, but isnt used for media sharing normally.
Hoping you can provide some guidance. thx.
Gnome media sharing is working when I use,
Playstation 3
VLC on Android phone
VLC on linux laptop
So looks like its the TV only playing up. I have cold booted it & tried numerous times, but it still doesnt want to play rygel video any more.
Its very strange because this began immediately after the update & was working fine last night.
After downgrading rygel to the previous version (0.44.2), the same issue remains.
So now I suspect its not rygel but some other media sharing element in manjaro gnome.
However, I have no idea what this may be.
If I assume rygel 45.1 is ok, what else could cause the playback stream to fail on my TV, but only on my TV.?
Gerbera does work, but its not as good as Gnome Media was so id prefer to fix.
Am I safe to assume manjaros version prior to 45.1 was 0.44.2?
I obtained the pkg from arch archive (2025-apr-24) because I foolishly had previous versions set to 1.
OK, its not Rygel.
I installed rygel 45.1 on Archcraft & no problem playing media on the TV.
But 2 separate installs of Manjaro Gnome on totally different PCs both have a problem, specifically on my Smart TV. (I don’t have another tv to test with)
So I conclude it must be something with Gnome or Manjaro, but for now I cant fathom what.
