I am trying to run gnirehtet (reverse tethering program to give internet to android phones via USB) on startup. If I run it in a terminal emulator then it works fine. When I add it to my startup (xfce) it loads, but does not connect the device properly. After that it does not work untill I reinstall it. If anyone has any ideas that would be great
On their documentation GitHub - Genymobile/gnirehtet: Gnirehtet provides reverse tethering for Android they mention to use:
./gnirehtet run
and for multiple devices, and automatically
./gnirehtet autorun
is that what you included for the startup entry ?

Yes. I am using gnirehtet autorun
in both cases.
No, I wasnt. Sorry I was being dumb. I had written gnirehtet autostart
not gnirehtet autorun
. Autostart
and autorun actually connects to it.
