Get invalid login after screen sleeps on Cinnamon

I get an invalid login every time after screen sleeps on Cinnamon:

  • Screen sleeps
  • Move mouse or press cursor to wake screen
  • Enter system password
  • It always says ‘invalid’. Then I get locked out for 10 minutes. Then I enter the SAME password and it unlocks just fine.
  • CAPS is NOT on. I check this each time.
  • I don’t have cats

This is happening intermittently. Sometimes I can enter pword and it unlocks. Sometimes I enter and it is invalid.

My pword is super short (6 chars) and v easy to remember and even if I really slowly type it, it results in invalid login.

Might be a long shot but try to either disable key repeat or set a longer repeat delay at your keyboard typing settings.
