GeForce GT710 driver issues (Black Screen after boot with a flashing cursor)

Hello,

I’m new to the forum and I’ve been running Manjaro Xfce for two years without problems, until this large update. After reboot from update my system boot but i got a Black Screen with a flashing cursor.
I run Manjaro from live USB and from terminal i do this

sudo manjaro-chroot -a
mhwd-kernel -li && mhwd -l && mhwd -li

and got

For sure there is a problem with Nvidia GeForce GT710 drivers but i am newbie and doesn’t understand what the problem is…

First, take a look here:

We need the logs to have a clue what happened on your system. Otherwise, it is a wild guess… Xorg logs and the journal for example.

Based on the given information you have installed the Nvidia 470xx driver, but use the free Nouveau driver somehow. What is the output of lsmod? Also do you have enough free disk space, as XFCE tend to not load when it has now space to write stuff.

My usb live Manjaro is 2.6 GB free space.
I believe the problem is that inxi -xG command give: Duplicate specification for the drivers you say. But i can’t fix this…

As a workaround I would suggest disabling lightdm:

sudo manjaro-chroot -a
systemctl disable lightdm.service
systemctl set-default multi-user.target

Then reboot. You will be greeted with a text only login. Login with your username and password. Then start xfce4 like:

startx /usr/bin/xfce4-session

Then you need to investigate why lightdm crashes on your system.

you already did it as you mentioned in your post, first chroot, then run:

 pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && pacman -Syyu

when its done run the second command i gave you, when its done, reboot and see if it helped

a new stable update just dropped, so rerun it from chroot, after its done, run this, also from chroot:
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache
it looks like you may have this issue mentioned in the stable update annoucement:

reboot and see if it helped…
