Geeqie broken after last system update (geeqie not updated)

Geeqie no longer works after the last update in a gnome desktop enviroment. Geeqie itself was not updated but probably a dependency.

  • Geeqie will start from terminal without the -r parameter and it will be usable just fine.
  • Geeqie will start when opening an image from “files” (nautilus) but will freeze immediately and can only be force closed.

It appears we will have to wait for glib2.67 for this to be fixed, as can be found via the ARCH bug system leading to a bug with fixes in the gnome world.

Give qimgv a go while you wait…

HHHHmmmm…

Yeah I got an error after posting one of thes, but it got posted anyway. Now there a two… on different locations however. Sorry…

As a temporary work around until GLIB is updated, you could modify /usr/share/appplications/geeqie.desktop and remove the -r option in de command line on line 54. You do loose some functionality when opening geeqie while it already open…
