[Mini-HowTo] Provide System Information

Basic details provided by *-fetch type apps might give enough information for someone wishing to buy a computer, however, for Support purposes it’s best to ask your system directly.

Output of the inxi command will generate more useful and detailed information for those who may wish to help:

Suggested inxi command (use either):

inxi -zv8 (short-form)
inxi --filter --verbosity=8 (long-form)

Command output should be presented as pre-formatted text in accordance with forum guidelines. :eyes:

Running inxi within a chroot environment

  • Add --color=0 to the long-form command, or…
  • Change the short-form command to inxi -zv8c0

Your privacy is respected

[Mini-HowTo] Present code or command output

Note: Grave accent (or, backtick) characters are used. :eyes:

For inline code or to show a single command:

  • please follow this simple example: code here.

For multi-line command output:

  • place text beween two rows of three (```) backtick characters to form a scrollable text box, or …
  • use the </> button in the Compose window to achieve the same result.

The empty row between these rows of backtick characters is where to paste any multi-line command output (such as inxi).

An example of a pre-formatted text enclosure:

What is a Quark?

A. In Physics, an elementary particle and fundamental constituent of matter.
B. A character from the Star Trek: "Deep Space Nine" television series.
C. A soft, creamy, usually unsalted cheese traditional to central Europe.

The issue is clearly WINE-related, and Steam is involved. The topic has been moved to a more appropriate Support category.

Regards.

 inxi -zv8

Please elaborate. I just know I didnt fiddle with WINE.

Moderator edit: Merged consecutive posts

Could you please elaborate? What does system start mean and why should it include anything like this:

There is not much to elaborate on; services.exe certainly isn’t a Linux executable:

And it seems that WINE, which is used by Proton/Steam, is (as said) involved:

Additionally, a cursory Internet Search reveals this apparent crashing is not specific to Manjaro; this is the most recent reference I’ve found that is Arch-related – meaning, it was reported on an Arch Linux (or derivative) installation:

I note that the resolution for some was to completely remove Steam – and it’s configuration files – reboot, and install Steam again.

Whether this might resolve the issue in your case, remains to be seen.

Regards.

as mentioned in the linked thread there was a change in the mesa/vulkan package.
So you can reinstall/update mesa package (which helped me a bit ago) or try the solution from the thread:

VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i68.json:/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json is the environment variable.
It is pointing to only one valid path which is why vulkan-loader fails to find the driver. You can try renaming the file and see if that solves the issue.
sudo mv /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.json /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json Then you can try vulkaninfo again.

Thanks everyone!

Weirdly this crash came and went so I do not know what it was.

I reinstalled mesa just in case but since the first time the crash message has not appeared again. Can it be a Steam patch fixed it?

I have not started a game (not even when the crash occured) because I rarely play in summertime.

Is there a way to check if the problem persists?

I dont know howto. When I type vulcaninfo in the console it does not know it (stays red).

Thanks, I did not know that. Thanks also for the info that it is Arch related.
