In the past month or so, I’ve started experiencing a lot of screen glitching (some examples below). The screen glitches are not limited to any specific program, and I believe they’re an OS/driver related problem rather than an issue with my laptop’s display because the glitches stay locked with the …

it sounds like a low level graphical memory corruption issue since it happens on both X and W, after a sleep cycle and when using FF (meaning probably HW video acceleration) You could test the oldest and newest kernel available to see if that makes a difference, as that is where the video driver li…

Hey scotty, thanks for the info. The CPU/GPU info on my profile is for my desktop machine, whereas this issue is with my laptop, hence the inconsistency. Full inxi output below inxi -zv8 System: Kernel: 6.6.84-1-MANJARO arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 14.2.1 clocksource: tsc avail: hp…

[image] acgray94: wm: kwin_x11 Is there any particular reason why you are running Plasma on x11? You don’t have an Nvidia GPU (they seem to be the main/only cause of issues with Plasma on Wayland), and Plasma Wayland works very well with AMD GPUs. You can switch to a Plasma Wayland session …

No, don’t think I ever explicitly chose to use x11, I guess it’s just the default. Will give Wayland a go and mark this as the solution if I don’t run into any issues after a few days. Thanks!

Unfortunately switching to wayland hasn’t fixed the glitches

It does, unfortunately, seem like it could be a hardware issue, at least to me. I’ve seen similar with ailing graphics cards. One test would be to boot and run from a Live USB for a while and see if the problem occurs there.

Moderator Note: Topic title changed for consistency with similar issues in the last few days – using “garbled” as a keyword.

Sorry, I haven’t had the time to test a live USB boot yet, I’m in the middle of writing my PhD dissertation so have put almost everything else to the side for a while. I’m not sure if the issue has improved in the last 3 weeks, but I have noticed that it only seems to start after I close (enter sle…

Thanks! I updated my kernel to 6.12 LTS (linux612) and it seems to have fixed the issue. No screen garbling/glitching after several sleep and wake cycles.
