Games don't render on external monitor

About two weeks ago, after some upgrades (Plasma 6.2.4 was part of them), I noticed that full screen games don’t render properly on the external monitor. On the built-in they are fine. On an external monitor the game starts, sound is playing, the game engine seems to be running properly, just the screen is frozen. When I switch to other app with alt+tab and back to the game, I see that another frame was rendered, and it’s frozen.

Is it a plasma issue?

I just signed up to reply to this, but yes I have the exact same issue. I have exactly the same laptop as you, 2022 G14, with the same GPU and GPU, but I’m running Fedora.

My fix is to add KWIN_DRM_DEVICES="/dev/dri/card1:/dev/dri/card2" to /etc/environment, which solves the issue but results in terrible battery life in hybrid mode. Outside of that I have no other fix, other than to connect the external display to the iGPU through the left side USB-C port and not via HDMI or the right side USB-C port (as the right one is connected directly to the dGPU).

I did see somewhere that downgrading kwin might solve it, but I want to avoid that if I can.

I’ve tried connecting through UBC-C and only left one works correctly (game is rendered). I think I’ll wait for the new kwin version and use USB-C in the meantime. Thanks!
