Some time ago I played the demo of a game from Steam under Manjaro (Planet Crafter). The full version of this game is now installed. But the game no longer starts. I have installed Arch Linux in a parallel partition and use the same ext4 partition for the games so that I don’t have to install the games twice. So the same data is used everywhere. The game starts without any problems under Arch. No special start parameters are passed anywhere. I use GE-Proton 9.20 in both cases. Other games do run fine, without any issue. I have checked ProtonDB, but didnt find any useful information. It should run, thats all.
I have also started Steam from the bash shell to see if there are any errors. But no error message is displayed.
How can I find out why the game won’t start? I suspect that there might be some libraries missing under Manjaro, but I can’t see anywhere which ones they should be…

All other steam games under Manjaro running fine?
System info’s please.
It’s a Lenovo Laptop with intel CPU, 32GB Memory , 2 SSD, intel iGPU and Nvidia 1650 gpu. No NTFS Partition, because no Windows. 1 dedicated gaming library Partition accessible for both, Arch and Manjaro, a 64GB SWAP. I think that’s all important i can remember so far.
In Arch the same game has no issues. On Manjaro all other games run fine. Better as on Arch. On Arch i have a lot of lags and the game "No man’s sky " is freezing after some random time. I don’t have this issue on Manjaro. Package wise, in context for games, both differ only by kernel version and nvidia drivers version. But that’s a completely other strange story.
I can pull more detailed sysinfo tomorrow, if this will help.

System information, please
It’s always preferable (and expected) that you ask your system for the information requested by other Members.
Output of the following command formatted according to forum requirements (see links below) will be much more useful for those wishing to help, than your best guesses :

Yeah, more system info’s are important here:
inxi --admin --verbosity=5 --filter --no-host --width
Double post your system info’s (output from above command) from Manjaro and Arch.
That we can compare them.
For example: It is possible that you use X11 on Arch and Wayland under Manjaro? And you need to switch it or something like that.

I have Steam installed along with a few free games which I’ve personally never had issue starting. That is the extent of my engagement with Steam. I mention this only to enhance that I likely have no direct solutions.
Let’s explore some other details that might help others:
1. Did you install the game while in Arch or Manjaro?
2. This seems a fair question:
Kobold:
Double post your system info’s (output from above command) from Manjaro and Arch.
That we can compare them.
It is possible that you use X11 on Arch and Wayland under Manjaro? And you need to switch it or something like that.
I notice from your system information that the Manjaro installation is using X11 – are both Arch and Manjaro using the same?
3. Any other known differences between the two environments might also be useful.
Regards.

Could it be possible that you use differend Launch Parameters, within Steam from Manjaro and Arch?
Possible the game using your Intel iGPU instead the nvidia one.
We still need Arch System info’s.
Are the other Steam games using also GE-Proton 9.20 as Planet Crafter?
No, I have tried some parameters, just for playing with them. But in the end, i dont use any parameters. However, I have found that using gamemoderun %command%
sometimes can start the game. GE-Proton is absolutely identical, in both OS. On Arch i dont need startparameters. When i use gamemoderun %command%
, on Arch, this doesnt change anything.
Some hours ago, I could start the game on Manjaro with gamemoderun %command%. Then i had to stop the game, for cooking the launch. Now it crashes directly after the start. I have no idea, where i can find the crash log. All i see, is a Unity Window which seems to generate some crash report.
