I dont find the theme that you had installed, the plasma 6 one.
Why is McMojave mentioned in your one screenshot?
That was just to prove that all of them are showing me this same error.
Then all of the ones you chose to try are too old and incompatible with Plasma 6.
I searched for the theme in the way and at the place you described.
put the snippet “drac” in the search box and got these two versions back
Then I installed both of them and tried them one by one.
One works, one doesn’t.
Too old.
There is an info button on each of them, leading to the page of the developer and possibly to a description.
I’m afraid you might need to check - or just go with trial and error until you find a working one.
Right right but thats just for one of the themes…does that mean that KDE is yet to remove the old themes and replace them with the newers ones
And how do i find only compatible ones in the snippet?
Thanks a lot
Try installing plasma-framework5:
pamac install plasma-framework5
Note:
This isn’t a fix, but a band-aid
Right so I ran the above command:
Download of plasma-framework5 (5.116.0-1) started
Download of kdeclarative5 (5.116.0-1) started
Download of kactivities5 (5.116.0-1) started

I also did a quick reboot.
My recommendation is the opposite of @Mirdarthos’s suggestion - it is to remove Plasma Frameworks 5 leftovers. This is what worked for me when I had the same issue of a custom SDDM theme not allowing me to log in when I updated from Plasma 5 to Plasma 6:
Log in to a TTY session (usually Ctrl-Alt-F3) as your normal user (not root).
Then run the command sudo pacman -Ru kf5 to remove any remaining vestiges of Plasma 5 frameworks.
Then run startx which should log you into a Plasma 6 X11 session.
Then open KDE’s System Settings => Colors & Themes => Login Screen (SDDM)
Select Breeze or Breath - nothing else! You will be asked to enter your password to change the SDDM screen.
Then log out, and you should (hopefully) be able to successfully log into a Plasma 6 Wayland session.
Hey @scotty65
Thats neatly explained but the question still stands or perhaps I think its does, Suppose I did all the steps you mentioned and I installed the theme like how I stated above, it shouldnt throw me and error and it should get applied. If Im wrong, is this like the cleaner way of doing stuff? (Precisely, what does the process does/eliminate errors?)
This does the opposite and considering my advice didn’t help, this might just do the trick ![]()
Please not the warning when you use the Get New… option

Also be aware that Manjaro stable provides Plasma 6.0.5 and anything from the kde store is likely adapted to Plasma 6.1.x
Plasma 6.1.x is only available using Manjaro unstable branch.
See → Switching Branches - Manjaro for more info on branches
Oh- Thats something I didnt notice but if suppose you want to apply a theme effectively being 6.0.5, how are you supposed to do it?
You don’t need to install the custom themes - Breeze and Breath are default themes that are installed with Manjaro.
It looks to me like you have possibly installed an older Plasma 5 version of Manjaro, then set a custom Plasma 5 SDDM theme, and then updated to Plasma 6. And many/most Plasma 5 SDDM themes will not work on Plasma 6.
Nothing in my recommendation will harm your system - I haven’t had any kf5 stuff on my system since I upgraded to Plasma 6 in May, and there has not been a single problem with my system since then.
With great caution…
Usually the components can be applied and tested one by one.
A tedious task - nonetheless - it might be necessary.
You are the system administrator - you are responsible for validating if it is doable on your system.
@scotty65
Maybe your right, my system might have been updated later but as i said i just downloaded the official ISO (today) from the website and installed it through that And I’ll probably do what you suggest…
My only concern being use of custom theme or/and the differences in the Plasma 5 and plasma 6 themes installed on the machine…
Nono like i meant how are you supposed to find themes for the stable Manjaro branch
(Im on the Minimal one)
My recommendation is for you to change everything regarding themes, colors, icons, SDDM to Breeze or Breath (basically, just hit the “Defaults” button to set them to Manjaro’s default settings - we know they work). You can change them to ones you prefer later, when this issue is sorted.
And, if you want to change your SDDM theme later, make sure you choose one that is 100% proven to work on Plasma 6.
Ah okay okay…I remember when the update came in, the snippet in the settings clearly mentioned for Plasma 6, its gone now perhaps.
Do you have any idea when this will get sorted and if this is an issue all along the KDE plasma across distros?
There is no such thing.
We know the default themes work.
If it is only the sddm theme which is failing - what I do to work around the issue is selecting the default greeter theme and apply a custom background.
That will make the sddm login screen behave as it should.
Also setting the splash screen to None will help if your custom theme provides a custom splash too.
True true, i dont know why I like it to be mor aesthetic, like before I use to customize it a lot like a change of scenery. Manjaro should dix some of these small tweaks.
