Hi
I’m having trouble with my fresh install of manjaro Cinnamon 21.1.2.
Booting into live usb, No problemo
Using the xfce version, No problemo
But after i installed the Cinnamon ISO i’m greeted at first boot with: “[FAILED] Failed to start Light Display Manager.” And cannot get passed it.
I’ve done every step in this guide:
But when i enter: $ systemctl status lightdm
All i get is this:
Please help me out!
Please have a look into /var/log.
Especially into lightdm.log and Xorg*.log.

That’s it.
Not sure what to do about the errors.
Only warning: These 3 seem to be in the wrong section (please see at arch wiki)
Error: So it seems lightdm stopped because Xorg server does not work propperly
Please change to 5.10 LTS or to another kernel that is supported
This may be the source of your problem. The driver for your graphic card seems to not be loaded. Maybe because of the EOL-kernel
I suggest using 2 kernels (5.10 and 5.15) to test this.
Wow, so the ISO i downloaded yesterday from Manjaro - Cinnamon contains a EOL kernel.
Anyways, i’ll give it a shot to fix it. Hard install for a newb like me

So i installed the 5.15 kernel and now atleast i can ctrl + alt + f5 $ startx
Yes the ISOs for some installs remain unchanged for some time. 
I also do think it would be best to use LTS-kernels on them (or at least 2 kernels, one LTS, one newest stable)

What i did when the failed lightdm message appeared was:
$ sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux515$ startxBig ty for the support!
