Freeze randomly

Hello

My computer hangs randomly, i can still move the mouse but it doesn’t let me click anywhere, when i try to execute new programs it’s only showing black space.
The only way to do something is to go to the console via control + alt + F2 to restart.

What I normally do is suspend the computer and not turn it off. Freezing is not happening after resume from suspend, many days can go by without this happening.

I’ve updated the BIOS after hangs days ago but this keeps happening again and again.
Today this happened with kernel 5.15.81-1 but it happened with 6.0.11-1 days ago.

Here is my current state of inxi -Fxz

i see, so you had some spam in logs…
try adding this parameter:
kate /etc/default/grub
and inside this line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT inside the quotes add this parameter:
amdgpu.gpu_recovery=1
dont remove anything, just add it to existing parameters, save the file, update grub:
sudo update-grub
reboot and test

Added, now I need to wait, because sometimes I was without any freeze few days.

It crashed again, I added amdgpu.gpu_recovery=1 to the file /etc/default/grub but crashed again

provide logs from the freeze:
journalctl -b-1 -p5 --no-pager | grep amdgpu

journalctl -b-1 -p5 --no-pager | grep amdgpu

nothing there really… add another parameter following the instructions above:

save grub, update grub, reboot and test

I added the last parameter you told me

Dec 25 17:46:33 maint kernel: Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.15-x86_64 root=UUID=99d9ca6c-c676-4535-989a-0e728e1e4f29 rw quiet udev.log_priority=3 amdgpu.gpu_recovery=1 idle=nomwait

It happened again after many days. The last day it happened was around 25th December but I did not post anything. So since 25th December it was ok until a few minutes ago.

do you have installed corectl? if yes, uninstall it, reboot and test…
also try adding another parameter:
amdgpu.dpm=0
save grub, update grub, reboot and test
if it happens also with this parameter, remove the parameter, save grub, update grub…

you can also try switching to wayland, so install this:
pamac install plasma-wayland-session
reboot and in the log in screen select wayland and test with it… but be warned, wayland can be unstable and can have also all kinds of issues, so if you have them switch back to xorg

I don’t have corectl installed

I can’t even see the display manager after add amdgpu.dpm=0 parameter, after grub screen is black

I am trying with wayland right now
