FreeCAD 1.0 RC too unstable / buggy

I think Manjaro pushed the FreeCAD 1.0 RC update too early. It’s promising, but it’s not stable enough to use for a project. I’ve been trying, and I keep losing work. There are multiple crash to desktop bugs (even after updates that fixed several of them). Sketches inexplicably break, and no amount of undoing will recover a working sketch. I tried loading an old project and large parts of that were broken forcing me to rebuild them from scratch.

I tried to make a moderately complex bracket 6 times in the last two days and gave up every time.

The old generation of FreeCAD was a bear to learn, with frustrating gotchas that cropped up if you didn’t know how to avoid them, but it was stable and once you learned the gotchas you could get things done. I need a useful version of the software, and I also think that new users should get a useful version when they install an official app.

Can we roll the repository back to a prior stable release until the new generation is usable?

As long as you haven’t deleted the old package files, you can always downgrade to the previous version you had installed.

I hope you’re raising bugs with the software developers so they know about the problems you’re encountering - they can’t fix anything otherwise.

Probably not since package is inherited from Arch
