Font size not uniform across apps

adjusting font sizes in system settings doesn’t apply to all apps, including qt apps

for ex., Mumble and Audacious are qt, but the font size throughout the entire UI is smaller than what is specified in system settings

this was not a problem when i “upgraded” to plasma 6, but with that came a LOT of bugs/issues, so i did a clean OS reinstall and now font sizes are not uniform across apps

KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0
Qt Version: 6.7.1
Kernel Version: 6.9.3-3-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

For the case of QT applications you can use the environment variable QT_SCALE_FACTOR to scale the fonts QT_SCALE_FACTOR=1.2 qtapp Or install qt6ct-kde for full control.

hi @anon60566263 - i’m not understanding why these work-a-rounds should be necessary - i didn’t use them before and font sizes obeyed the global settings, even after the plasma 6 update, so why isn’t working now after a clean install? seems like something is broke, no?

Actually I have always had this problem with QT, the only solution that has worked for me is QT_SCALE_FACTOR

First, close those affected apps, then install plasma5-integration and breeze5,
Then re-apply global Breeze theme.

Second, those apps can use their own look separately from what you set in Plasma settings, so you should change their configs to follow Plasma settings.

plasma5-integration was the answer! - breeze5 was installed by default and i had the app theme settings set to use native

seems odd that wouldn’t be installed by default, especially given that all the deps were installed by default

thanks!!!

By doing this I have lost the panels, is there any way to recover them?

I have had problems with the backintime application, it is solved as user, do you have any solution to run it as root?

Not sure, but I just added new panels when that happened. Is this after a complete logout/login, or reboot?

Immediately after applying a global theme, all my panels and widgets disappear and the default is added.

I have 3 monitors with two panels each, plus widgets.

I have backup, it’s done every hour, plus a daily one for the last 80 days, so the last case…

Although if I recover the backup I also recover the QT error, I’d like to not spend an hour or two creating the panels…

No, but remember to always uncheck this option when you apply any theme if you don’t want to change your current customized layout and desktop.
