Folder color in Nemo (Papirus icons)

I use Manjaro Cinnamon with the Papirus icon theme.
When using Nemo with list view and zoom level is above 100% folders are colored, but beneath 100% they are only in dark/light grey. I also want them to be in color. Is this possible? Is it a feature/problem with Nemo? It’s always different depending on the view.

I can reproduce it. Have you checked upstream issues?

Since its being reported … I guess this is presenting in an unexpected way and not the expected behavior of showing symbolic icons?
IE - In other environments such as Plasma any icon under a certain size becomes ‘symbolic’, such as shown when I resize dolphins side panel icons;

Can reproduce while using other icons as well or just Papirus?

I think that may be what’s happening. However, with Nemo and Nautilus, the sidebar icons are symbolic to begin with.

I was going to ask that, but somehow my fingers got distracted. :laughing:

Icons SHOULD always default to symbolic in smaller sizes.

However, there are some which don’t…

on Plasma, I tried ‘Rami Grey’ which have only painted icons. There are a couple of variations - but overall, you just have to find which icons you can install that will work.

There are a few others, I forget now (maybe Kora, not sure).

No, not as of starting the topic. I thought, this behaviour is Manjaro specific and I could tweak it somewhere. (Counting the open issues in the Mint repos, they seem to need helping hands).

I additionally tested it with AdwaitaLegacy and Mint-Y. Both have colored folder icons on the smallest zoom level. Examining Mint-Y repo, they only have a hand full of icons in the “symbolic” category, whereas Papirus has all icons from other sizes also in symbolic. Because Papirus also has 16x16 icons, Nemo should be able to display colored icons on the smallest level.
Besides, it seems Nemo doesn’t resize the side panel. The icons are always symbolic/monochrome.

So I should ask the Mint team, if this is intended or a bug of Nemo?
