Folder "cacheDir" suddenly created in home directory

I see that since some days ago there is a new folder created in my home directory, called “cacheDir”. I removed it once but it was re-created automatically. I find it quite disturbing and would prefer to keep my home clean (just my folders that I really need and want).

Where does this folder come from, is it really required and if so, could it be relocated or made a hidden directory rather?

I googled ~/cacheDir, first result [Bug]: Nextcloud desktop client linux creates "cacheDir" directory in home · Issue #4483 · nextcloud/desktop · GitHub
