Should I not try to update it because I am in legacy bios mode? I am not even sure what is or what to do to get out of that mode.

you cant update it, because you are in legacy/bios mode… this fwupd is for uefi… and even if you could update it, i would stay away from it, you can brick your system completely, and then youll be finished…
if you have a bios update available, follow the instruction on the lenovo site on how to update it …
