Firefox addon, Dark Reader?

It is noot working on all site, do other dark mode addons conflict< I have Manjaro KDE Plasma Stablw.

Hi Edward, which ones do you have?

I only have “Simple Night Mode” on Firefox here. It seems to work with most of the sites I use it on, but does make a mess of others. I guess it depends how the site was coded.

I have a friend who is bothered by the bright screen. She adjusts the monitor brightness and room light.

I also have dark background and light text, the thing it it worked on a sire yesterday & the samme site it won’t work on today, I am talking about Dark Reader. I like how it lets you adjust contrast & brightness.

Sorry I meant which other ones :wink: — but to hazard a guess, unless other “night mode” tools are also active (enabled) there shouldn’t be an issue.

I’ll have to try Dark Reader and experiment with it.

I use this add-on on Firefox and do not experience the specific issues you describe, I’m on gnome and unstable so not directly comparable.

To try: The refresh option is a copy of your current profile with some basis data and omits extensions, themes etc.

If a refresh does not solve the issue renaming the folder in witch Firefox stores your settings is a more invasive option. The location is listen in the about:support page in Firefox.

Dark Reader is working here - I set it not enabled by default.

Make sure you also check out Reader mode.

Here is normal, Dark Reader, and then Firefox Reader mode:

However, they will all have issues with some websites, so it pays to try alternatives - as well as to be familiar with brightness settings (I can set my display to be very dim brightness/contrast to be comfortable in low lighting even with light themes/)…

I’ll drop this here for consideration;

I recall playing with Dark Reader for several months, but I was never satisfied with the general theming; none of the suggested modes were overly helpful. There was always something not right.

Eventually, I decided I’d already spent too much time on trying to bend Dark Reader to my will, and uninstalled the extension.
