Firefox 131 adds a annoying little button (Spoiler alert: Not easy to remove)

Well i just openend this Topic with the main intend to inform other’s.

I would love to see a real solution, but i don’t expect it.

What im interested to know which trade off has this userChrome.css file?

Possible a downgrade to Browser Fingerprinting? Or other shady data leaks? Im only expect the worst when i hear Chrome.

The Chrome in userChrome.css really refers to the general styling; the appearance; of Firefox (or any browser).

While the Reddit solution works, I’d tend not to recommend it, but prefer to wait for the Firefox team to address it. Leaving any custom fix in userChrome.css might potentially interfere with any legitimate fix offered by Firefox.

Thanks for the feedback, this sounds like a real trade off then and i also would not recommend it.

You’re certainly not the only one who assumes less than “complimentary” connotations with the mention of “Chrome”!

To get a handy list of tabs you can also use Tools > Firefox View. Selecting Open Tabs and then adding a toolbar bookmark to it Middle-clicking the bookmark button makes the list show up in a new tab, with the list tab being to top entry. I find these things more useful than any little button that you will inadvertently touch when least expecting it.

There is also, of course, Alt-T,F

However, Firefox isn’t alone in adding annoying crud, KDE and its suite of programs, have a good set of annoyances as well.

As long as starry-eyed devs exist, with a penchant for all things shiny, such annoyances will be prevalent with all but the most controlled software.

Yes, often young people who shave using a coarse towel, no blades involved.

The good news is that, as of Firefox v131.0.3 (which has just arrived in Testing branch), the “List all tabs” button can now be removed from the toolbar:

Fixed an issue where the “List all tabs” button was not able to be moved from the toolbar. (Bug 1918681)

I dare say with this updated information the thread is now solved, and destined for closure.

@Kobold

I just updated Firefox 1hour ago on Windows10 (that i only use to patch every few weeks and is normally a zombie OS on my system).

I was really surprised that the Firefox didnt had this Button under Win10 as i updated from v129 to the latest 131.0.3 from today.

Then i realised that this newer update (that its not rolled out yet under Manjaro stable) just came online today under Windows.

I can’t wait till the button is finally gone :slight_smile:

I agree, but please give me the time in future to come online, that i can mark the right person who solved my topic.

Even if your decision, that scotty solved the Topic reflect mine right now :wink:

The ugly icon has, indeed, gone - replaced with a more subtle and pleasant dropdown arrow which can, if you so desire, be dragged away to oblivion.

Noted;
but I knew you could change it if you needed to;
which is why I tagged you. :wink:

No big deal here, i just slighty feel a little bid remote controlled.

Hello Microsoft :smile:
