Filesystem root and efi suddenly "external" hdd?

Hello all.

After turning on the computer after yesterday’s update my filesystem root and efi folders turn up like they are external hdd, I tried to add a screenshot of it, but I don’t have enough points to do so.
Not sure if this is a problem, but I don’t like to have this like this.
I can however not access my external hdd, and my second external hdd isn’t even showing. I am pretty sure I can figure out how to access my hdd. I am using a laptop HP-Pavilion-Gaming

Could you give us the output of each of these commands.

lsblk

mount

journalctl -b | grep -i mount

To mount your external HDD you could do

sudo mount /dev/sda1 /your/mountpoint

Regarding my external hdd, it is connected to USB hub, and I suspect it is not having good enough connection.

Here are the commands you asked for.

Can’t spot any irregularities, except the ungraceful unmount of the external HDD.

What Filemanager do you use?

Could you do

less /var/log/pacman.log | grep -i your_file_manager ## like nautilus, thunar or nemo.

I use the default file manager distributed bu Manjaro GNOME.

I can tell you that I only have 1 (ONE) external HDD connected to the machine. Don’t know why it shows all the snaps I use as an external hdd. Don’t know what this core18 is. But Bitwarden, Bunqdesktop and the other are from snap.

~ >>> less /var/log/pacman.log | grep -i nautilus [1]

That’t normal and it doesn’t show them as ‘external’ but as loopback devices. It’s somewhat like mounting an ISO. core18 is the snap core and the others are the snaps themselves.

"Google loop device’ have not reached this level myself since the new forum started…

So it doesn’t seem to be the FM itself. To pin it down further you could look at the pacman.log and post here the last entries regarding yesterdays update.

less /var/log/pacman.log

I am having slight problem highlighting everything. Can’t get the terminal to scroll up/down with the highlight. Will edit as soon as I manage this.

Click on the start of the to be marked text and scroll down. Otherwise you can redirect the output in a file and open it with an editor

less /var/log/pacman.log > formanjaroforum

There is something weird. It shows a /dev/sdb1 that gets mounted and unmounted. Seems to be half a TB of games.

I can’t paste it here, too many characters(Body is limited to 150000 characters; you entered 314648.). Can’t put in a link from pastebin, can’t upload a .txt file hmmmm.

Yeah ,the 500 Gb is a gaming disk connected to a usb hub which seems to have very limited connection to the laptop itself. So I am less worried about this… I would however like to not have the opportunity to unmont filesystem root and efi.

For now I would disconnect the 500GB drive completely and reboot.

Copy the single parts of the pastebin link as words, without dots in between. Like

www google com

I actually did that while you were writing… disconnected everything from the laptop. And filesystem root and efi do not show up as un-mountable.

Sorry for the “fake” problem, I should have been smarter than this and just restarted.

No problem. Here to help
