[feature request] Pamac-cli should report errors from subprocesses

I recently took days to resolve my issue #30545 . Turns out the problem was a line-ending problem that made makepkg error out.

makepkg reported the error just fine when I called it directly. But pamac cli reported success. Can we make pamac return - or at least display - package install errors?

Pamac has a “terminal” window that shows the output of what it does.

pamac GUI has a terminal window that shows the output of what it does… which is presumably the same as the output of pamac cli. Neither of them showed this fatal error from makepkg.

Ah okay.

I think you should report this bug on Gitlab.

Me too, but I don’t have an account there and there appears to be no registration. :frowning: I understand there was some kind of a problem with our self-hosted gitlab in the last several days… but I see a lot of forum threads from well before then complaining that outsiders have no access to create Issues. :frowning:

Is there something I’m missing?

I’ve opened an issue and referenced your post:

I left out the “feature request” classification mainly due to me thinking of this as a bug…
