Fcitx5-mozc update fills journal to the brim with logspam

I upgraded fcitx5-mozc (2.31.5712.102.g9dc8247-1 -> 2.31.5712.102.g9dc8247-3) couple days ago, before the update these were the normal logs:

helmi 14 18:08:01 manjaro fcitx5[1875]: E0214 18:08:01.595406 1875 config_handler.cc:215] user://config1.db is not found

now in addition to the above i get:

helmi 15 14:17:01 manjaro fcitx5[1855]: WARNING: All log messages before absl::InitializeLog() is called are written to STDERR
helmi 15 14:17:01 manjaro fcitx5[1855]: W0000 00:00:1739621821.791542 1855 unix_ipc.cc:278] connect failed: Connection refused

helmi 15 14:17:01 manjaro fcitx5[1992]: WARNING: All log messages before absl::InitializeLog() is called are written to STDERR

with the following two lines being printed zillion times at random intervals (but only after 30-60mins from system startup):

helmi 15 15:43:44 manjaro fcitx5[1992]: W0000 00:00:1739627024.855734 1996 session_usage_observer.cc:520] unknown session
helmi 15 16:20:57 manjaro fcitx5[1992]: W0000 00:00:1739629257.716260 1996 session_handler.cc:698] cannot find SessionID 18058517955198379215

Running journalctl -b0 | grep W0000 | wc -l on my current session with uptime of 7 hours i get OVER 24K matches.

Both fcitx5 and mozc still work fine, and fcitx5 still runs autosave normally, but journal is currently infested with those warnings. Doesn’t the -3 versioning suffix at the end indicate a distro-specific versioning? Where do i find the changelogs between -1 and -3 for fcitx5-mozc?

Edit: fcitx5-mozc has worked for me for years without this logspam which just started appearing. I double checked my ~/.config/fcitx5/config and the ~/.config/fcitx5/conf/ for any relevant settings to no avail. I haven’t even made any changes to the defaults whether it be through the config files, fcitx5-configtool or the KDE Plasma integration settings so that’s not helpful at all.

Edit2: Same lines are being logged to ~/.mozc/fcitx_mozc.log and ~/.mozc/mozc_server.log, with both them being over 10K lines long. Was there a change to the loglevel of fcitx5 or mozc? I cant find any systemd services for either on my system.

In fcitx_mozc.log in addition to the above two lines that are being spammed this gets repeated over and over:

W0215 05:14:26.286636 1875 unix_ipc.cc:278] connect failed: Connection refused
E0215 05:14:26.286641 1875 ipc_path_manager.cc:516] cannot open: /home/saukko/.mozc/.session.ipc
E0215 05:14:26.286645 1875 ipc_path_manager.cc:260] LoadPathName failed
E0215 05:14:26.286647 1875 client.cc:676] Connection failure to session
E0215 05:14:26.286651 1875 client.cc:499] DeleteSession failed

Edit3: The only time I can reproduce the unknown session warning is when I press any key when fcitx5-mozc is active and according to the mozc docs: Mozc IPC call happens for EVERY key events.

Other times it occurs include:

  1. Quickly hovering over the KDE Application Launchers categories.
  2. Opening any app: 2-3 lines
  3. Closing any app: 3-6 lines
  4. Saving images through browsers ie. opening/closing xdg-desktop-portal-kde

ArchWiki - Fcitx5 - Configuration tool

The configuration file of fcitx5 is located at ~/.config/fcitx5. Although you can use a text editor to edit the configuration file, you might find a GUI configuration tool much more convenient, so install the fcitx5-configtool package.

@0tter

Have you solved it yet?
I’ve been using fcitx5-mozc-ut for a long time.
it’s in the AUR.

pacman -Qi fcitx5-mozc
: fcitx5-mozc-ut
: 2.31.5712.102.20250117-1

journalctl | grep fcitx5
(none)

it’s in the AUR.I don’t recommend it . but Very Cool for me.
To put it in a slightly exaggerated way, if there was no -ut, I might leave Linux, let alone Manjaro. Of course, everyone has their own preferences.
