Hi.
I’m currently investigating the cause of intermittent system crashes on AMD-based systems with DP connected to external monitor.
Apparently those crashes appeared on kernel after 6.6.40
As part of my troubleshooting efforts, I plan to temporarily roll back to version 6.6.40 (currently running 6.6.46) for a few hours to conduct some tests.
Any suggestions how i can make it fast and painless without any actual impact on running system?
Thank you.
This is a very weak reason. Using 6.6.40 means using an unsupported system as you obviuosly not fully update then anymore. If 6.1. is working then you have still a fully maintained system, so why not trying?
Are you on unstable? Depending how the driver crashes, a few fixes for 6.10 and mesa came along.
(However, the issue in my case came on 6.10, not 6.6).
Its is easy to answer your question simply by quoting my initial post.
Ill highlight few things in order for you to understand better why i am doing this:
also the reason
This way i will know that if 40 is working without problems and 44 does have problem, we can check the difference in those versions and minimize footprint of search, knowing that patch, which is making system unstable was made between 40 and 44.
I have idea why this is happening.
And i am testing it for last 2 days.
If i will not suffer any reboots with few added kernel parameters i will share them.
