Failed to start Authorization Manager

Hello, I am on KDE Plasma I updated my system with the latest stable updates earlier in the day and had no issues, I rebooted my system many times and experienced no problems after updating, now suddenly after gaming my system now gets the following errors:

Failed to start network time synchronization X8 Failed to start Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Stack Failed to start Authorization manager Dependency failed for Modem Manager

And then it goes to a black screen.

I’ve since booted into a live USB and chrooted into my system

I heard it could be an issue with glibc so I attempted to update glibc

sudo pacman -S lib32-glibc

I attempted to just update my system

sudo pacman -Syu

Fails to synchronize all databases, I restarted to see if it made a difference and I still have the same errors.

Usually there is a message like “nothing to do”, with the obvious meaning. This suggests the update has completed, but it seems that something else has gone awry after that.

What that is might only be determined from the information you can provide. Please provide system information as described (below) and I’m sure someone will help when they are able.

I do seem to recall seeing a mention of lib32-glibc recently; perhaps in the Update announcement comments; but that might no longer be relevant.

A quick Internet search (Arch related) revealed similar issues for some after incorrectly merging .pacnew files; have you merged any very recently?

You might consider performing an update again - from within a chroot environment – this tutorial may be helpful;

You mentioned pacnew files I always try to be careful with these but I did overwrite some earlier I did not have any issues with rebooting after but this potentially could be it. Is there is a way to revert them back?

Not directly; but there may be ways to replace some of them with the default content.
