I just got a noise canceling headphone from Sony. I noticed that the volume on Linux using aux cable is extremely low. And only on linux. It was fine on android with bluetooth, it was also fine on Windows with aux cable.
I almost purchase new usb audio interface without knowing that it’s linux only issue.
On windows on the same machine, volume 10% and 40% on the soundcard gives enough volume. But on Linux I need to crank it up to 100% on the OS and 100% on my sound card to achieve decent volume, and sometimes it’s still not enough.
ANother problem is if I increase my sound card volume, there will be hissing. And enable “Raise max volume” will make the audio to have bad quality when the volume is beyond 100%.
alsamixer only has one volume setting. config on /etc/asound.conf doesn’t seem to do anything to my alsamixer as well.
Other than purchasing a hardware that can increase the volume (which I’m not sure what it is or if it will actually fix my problem), I don’t know what else I can do to fix it.
