Extreme slowdown when disabling monitor

Has anyone noticed extreme slowdown when disabling a monitor in the display configuration?

I have an XPS 15 that I connect to a Dell D6000 dock with 3 monitors. I have displaylink installed and after some tinkering it works fine. Sometimes the monitors will be disabled and I have to go to display configuration and enable those monitors and arrange them in the correct order.

If I disable an enabled montor myself though, it will work, but the system slows down to the point it’s unusable. I have to do this occasionally because one of my displays will look fuzzy (technical term) and disabling and reenabling it fixes it.

It’s not the end of the world. I would be just fine with it like this, but im curious if anyone has any insight to why this happens or if theres something I can do about it. Or does this only happen to me?

Here’s my system info:
