Establish remote desktop connection between two Manjaro systems

My friend has installed Manjaro xfce on his PC, however, he is a Manjaro newbie. I would like to help him to configure his system according to his personal needs. I believe that help via remote desktop would be the appropriate technique.

To learn about remote desktop connection between two Manjaro xfce systems I am trying to establish such a connection from my new PC (achat) to my old PC (lapis) within my home network .

“Achat” is supposed to be the “teacher’s PC”, i.e. the client that requests an rdp connection.
“Lapis” is supposed to be the “pupils PC”, i.e. the server.

Eventually my friend’s PC should become server. My frind lives some kilometers away from me, so eventually the intended desktop connection will have to be established via internet.

In this post I am hoping for help for the 1st step - rdp in my home network from “Achat” to “Lapis”.

I installed and configured SW according to the instruction of the post by @Individual-Heart-719

see here

On “Achat” I installed remmina, on “Lapis” I established the xrdp service.

When I invoke remmina on “Achat”, I succeed only partially; my impression is that a connection between the two PCs is being established, but it quickly ends, because remmina shows a connection log that ends with the message “Can’t create session for user xxx - X server could not be started”.

Which further information should I post so that someone can offer advice?

You might find RustDesk useful in Linux.
Or, as you use XFCE, Remmina is GTK based.

This involves some sophisticated setup for your friends internet connection. I will advise against such setup as it will quickly be target of bruteforce attacks.

The most simple solution is teamviewer.
