Error while installing, There are no partitions to install on

Im switching to Linux because when I updated my Laptop from windows 10 to 11 it could not properly start as it would just end up in a black screen even though it gave startup sound.

this is what inxi -Fayz returns bc this was asked on a old related post.

I think i caused the problem. The disk had bitlock and since i dont have access to the recovery key, I used windows diskpart to nuke the entire disk and cleaned it. That means that there is currently no partition on the disk. People were saying that efi being enabled could be an issue but i assume that is a non issue on a cleaned disk.
Bc i found my hdd and not my ssd i disabled the hdd in bios to see if manjaro then finds my disk on a hail marry (if you are wondering why inxi didnt show it).

Edit:
Just realised that after wiping the ssd i no longer have access to the windows repair tool where i get cmd to use diskpart…

So my question is can i mount the cleaned drive even if there is no partition on it? Or is it a different issue. When i start my laptop it says no bootable devices found so efi is definitely not the issue

Hi and welcome,

According to this there is one device visible and it is an SSD.

The SSD is also formatted as MBR.

EDIT - Oh, looking a little closer is this the USB?

If you are going to use EFI (which is suggested) then you will want a GPT scheme.
The filesystem is up to you - but the classic ext4 is usually a good option unless you want to make use of extra features provided by others like btrfs.

You will need to be able to ‘see’ the drive somehow.
If it cannot be located by a tool like gparted then you will need to investigate further.
Maybe something like

sudo fdisk -l

Could tell you more.

PS.

Are you using RAID on purpose?
Do you know what it is?
If not … then please double check your BIOS/EFI settings and ensure you select AHCI mode instead of RAID for SATA settings.

Hey,
Fixed it in the meantime. AHCI wasn’t on now the installer did everything else on its own.
What you saw before was the sd card (had no usb) i used to install, since i deactivated the hdd that was only drive you could see.

I thought RAID was off bc in bios all my disks were listed as non-RAID disks but maybe my diskpart shenanigans switched it back or i had to also enable ahci.
Anyway it works now thx for your concern and help anyways
