Hi there,

So I tried to update but I had the error - failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)). After that, I tried some suggestions from form. Nothing worked. I tried pacman-key --init pacman-key --populate, I tried clear the entire cache. But after that I get the following:

is it better to just use timeshift?

Thank you for the reply. I followed the suggestions but got the following

It may be due to obsolete PGP keys or Arch-signed packages in the repositories.

  1. Reinstall keyrings including the latest keys:
sudo pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring manjaro-keyring

If you can’t install the keyring because of signature errors, perform step 2 and repeat 1, otherwise proceed to step 3.

  1. Remove old and possibly expired, revoked or invalid keys by issuing this command:
sudo rm -r /etc/pacman.d/gnupg
  1. Initialize the pacman keyring:
sudo pacman-key --init
  1. Load the signature keys:
sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux artix
  1. Clear out the software packages downloaded during the aborted installation:
sudo pacman -Scc
sudo pacman -Syyu

Unfortunately, this did not work either. I did step 1, got the errors, did step two, and got this error.

error: keyring is not writable
error: keyring is not writable
error: required key missing from keyring
error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

so I did in the following order and it worked

sudo pacman-key --init 
sudo pacman-key --refresh-keys
sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux manjaro
sudo pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring manjaro-keyring
sudo pacman -Scc
sudo pacman -Syyu
