Error code: SIGSEGV on Google Chrome

I have been troubled with aur/google-chrome about site authentications like gmail, x.com, etc.

I can’t specify when the problem happened.

I can input my email address and password, but the next page I get is “AW, Snap! Something went wrong while displaying this page. Error code: SIGSEGV” on Gmail.
And on x.com I can’t go any further from password input.

I did the procedures described here Fix "Aw, Snap!" page crashes and other page loading errors - Computer - Google Chrome Help , but no luck.

I also tested on Chrome-based browsers like MS-Edge, Brave, and Vibald but got the same error.

I use Firefox on almost all websites, but on a few specific sites, I need the Chrome-based browser and user authentication.

Thanks in advance.

It seems to me that you might better contact the

about this issue; especially if it the issue prevails with all browsers used.

Aside:- Normally I’d suggest to avoid browsers from the AUR (or flatpak, appimage, etc) if an alternative exists in the official Manjaro repositories.

The site I want to use most is https://plus.nhk.jp, a Japanese public broadcaster that doesn’t provide for firefox.

I tested on extra/chromium, but the result was the same on Gmail or NHK.

Clearly it’s a memory access violation of some kind, but to receive SIGSEGV on so many browsers seems unusual.

Are you using the browsers in a docker container, or anything like that? Was there an exit code as well as the error message?

Can you try to capture the full error message(s) presented - from each browser - this might enable members to form a better idea of the potential problem.

Please also provide system information as decribed (below).

Could it be that you haven’t yet updated to OAuth2 authentication in applications using your Google accounts. If you use a “sign-in with Google” type of login, perhaps that could prevent login on a few sites.

Google have been actively recommending users to make those changes for a year or two. Eventually, non-conforing clients would be denied access in that case.

(Just exploring possibilities)

Regards.

System Information

Output of this command (formatted according to forum requirements) may be useful for those wishing to help:

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

or the short form:

inxi -zv8

Be prepared to provide more information and outputs from other commands whenever asked. It’s equally important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem.

I don’t use the docker container.

I get errors here.
