Encrypt NAS from the client workstation

I have a NAS with no encryption support built in, only basic SMB shares.

Is it possible to mount the drive on my workstation then format and encrypt the drive with LUKS over the network? Would it then be possible to mount and decrypt the network drive from other machines? Or is there a better solution?

Thought I’d ask and see if it’s possible before I spend days moving around TBs of data to try it.

You could use rclone to (re-)mount the mounted drive as an encrypted storage.

Thanks, I hadn’t heard of that one but it looks promising, and also solves my cloud drive problems!
