Effect of LC_COLLATE=C in a VNC session

Hi everyone.

I put LC_COLLATE=C in `/etc/environment’ of my Manjaro so that items sort like

-cat
aardvark
boy

Instead of

aardvark
boy
-cat

But when I have a VNC session into that machine, I get aardvark first, which is to say line LC_COLLATE=C as in file /etc/environment does not have an effect on sorting in VNC.

Question: How could I get the -cat first sorting in a VNC session? Maybe I have to put LC_COLLATE=C in some other config file?

Thanks!

Try putting LC_COLLATE=C in /etc/locale.conf and see if that works?

That totally worked. Thank you!

Thank you. I will do that. Because I have no foundation in computers, there is an ad hoc feel to everything I do. At some point, it will pay better to study some things.
