I do not see how to install Dropbox I need it. Any help? Searched the forum and found nothing.
In short:
pamac install dropbox
in pamac-manager activate the AUR plugin. There is also a flatpak if you prefer. (activate the flatpak plugin).
I will try and get this done. Wish me luck.
antwon@antwon-optiplex7010 ~]$ pamac install dropbox
Error: target not found: dropbox
[antwon@antwon-optiplex7010 ~]$
Itâs in the AUR - you need to enable that in your add/remove programs (Pamac).
Maybe also itâs best to do something like âpamac search dropboxâ to check before you just issue the install command for something youâre not quite sure about the name.

You should use the </> key to paste text unformatted for code⌠also you can HIDE it with the âgearâ icon.
Try the GUI. I canât work out why it isnât working for you thoughâŚ
I get this:
~ >>> pamac install dropbox [130] Warning: dropbox is only available from AUR Build dropbox from AUR ? [y/N]
Not sure whatâs going on. I came over from Mint after I heard such good things. I will see what I can figure out. Lol, getting a little frustrated. Not going back so I gotta figure this out.
pamac install
is only for repo packages.
pamac build
is how you build from AUR.
pamac build dropbox
For the GUI, you might need to make sure the AUR is enabled in the preferences.
I prefer using pacman
and yay
. This is how to install yay and use it to install dropbox:
sudo pacman -S yay
yay -S dropbox
And assuming thats the package you want (and not one of the FM plugins or something) then you should have dropbox installed.
But you should really familiarize yourself with the AUR and how it works:
https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=Arch_User_Repository
PS:
Given the difference in how pamac is working, etc ⌠I realize OP may not be up-to-date. Please make sure to have your system current before proceeding. ex:
sudo pacman-mirrors -f && sudo pacman -Syyu
TBH I use yay - I never knew pamac wouldnât offer to build if an install isnât available⌠surely âinstallâ should cover building too?
Again - itâs good to use the direct install line âyay -S dropboxâ but simply doing âyay dropboxâ will pull up all of the associated stuff;

Anyway, after âyay dropboxâ on my KDE I just hit â4â to select
4 aur/dropbox 102.4.431-1 (+2329 8.79) (Installed) A free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily.
The +2329 8.79 indicates that itâs rather popular.
I also use uLauncher with a shortcut âAUR dropboxâ to pull up the website:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/dropbox/
Youâll see there also plugins for nemo/nautilus etc. In KDE it is fine with dolphin as it is.
Actually pamac is a little more advanced. If you ask it to install, it WILL offer to build:
> ~ >>> pamac install dropbox [1]
> Warning: dropbox is only available from AUR
> Build dropbox from AUR ? [y/N]
Have followed the above mentioned procedures and keep getting this message:
==> ERROR: One or more PGP signatures could not be verified!
Error: Failed to build dropbox
You have to get the gpg keys. see below. Use the command to get it.
After that search for dropbox in âinstall softwareâ. If you have aur activated you will see it there.

@MGrider - sorry i missed your post!
Had found this article in the meantime, which seems to have pretty well resolved the issue.

There were other responses but I saw yours first and gave it a try. Thank you, worked like a charm!
I did activate Flatpak but not Snaps. I did get it installed and I am loving Manjaro!
