Happened to me on a live server once…a whole web site got nuked 
I never drag and drop in a ftp client since then.
The good news is, without root it can be only somewhere in the home folder.
that is where all the good stuff is - not for a server, but in this case perhaps
not sure whether I gathered all the info correctly
but he might simply have mounted something on top of what he now can’t find anymore

I recall a recent bad theme that had code that accidentally ran rm on things, but that was a little while ago, and it was removed from the kde store.
the new system monitor has some easily triggered bugs that make it crash. So i made it crash again for the n:th time. No biggie, i went to the menu to start it again and it was gone from favourites. Weird i thought, and searched for it, but it is not found. Very confused i asked pacman about it, and it it was not installed. At this point i was a bit spooked. So i installed it, started it, and all my configurations were remembered… Nothing similar has ever happened before in all my years on manjaro or linux.
Are you maybe referring to the discontinued ksysguard ?
If so … it may have been removed during the course of updates or removing orphans.
I know mine was uninstalled during an upgrade some weeks ago …
