DOOM can't get past the main menu loading screen

I installed DOOM 2016 on steam and am using Steam Play but every time I start DOOM, it crashes. Sometimes it crashes as soon as it starts, though the furthest it’s loaded is the main menu loading screen (the loading symbol has never gone above %0).
One thing I noticed is this “BInit - Unable to initialize Vulkan!
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1608507519)” when I start steam with the terminal.
If you need it, I copied the terminal output for both opening steam and Doom and then just Doom for one of the times it made it to the loading screen.

Thanks in advance for your help, I really appreciate it!

I can see you have intergrated and dedicated graphics. Do you have prime drivers and are you launching the game with the prime-run command?

I don’t actually know what prime drivers are and neither do I know how to use the prime-run command. So not to sound like to much of an idiot but how would I go about doing that?

What drivers do you have installed for your nvidia card? If you go to manjaro settings under hardware it will show you what drivers you have installed and what are available. You have amd+nvidia so you should have amd-nvidia prime drivers i think. If you have the correct drivers to use the nvidia card you need to use the command prime-run. Im away from the pc atm but will link you some tutorials when I can.

The only installed driver is “video-linux”. I ran the command “prime-run” and got “bash: prime-run: command not found”.

So you only have the open source drivers installed. What happens if you select auto install proprietary drivers?

I did the auto install thing before and I think it had some problems but now I have the video-nvidia-455 one. I was doing some searches trying to get the prime drivers working and in that process I installed video-nvidia-455. DOOM loaded and works great now!
The output for prime-run still hasn’t changed, probably because after I installed that driver I tried Doom and it worked so I’ve been playing that… oops

Little tip for gaming, try using lutris to launch your games. It has lots of options like gamemode (prevents and throttling), prime render offload (makes sure nvidia card is always used), set resolution, show real time logs while game is loading and many more

Okay, thanks! Should I be concerned about
“prime-run” not doing anything? Should I still try to install anything else? Merry Christmas!
