Dolphin no copy no moving since some days

surprisingly I can no longer copy or move between 2 windows with Dolphin. With Krusader it works.

What exactly do you see? Is there an error message?

Plasma 6.6 has new settings for what happens as the default action when objects are being dragged in dolphin. :backhand_index_pointing_down:

it’s not that.
There are folders in the same folder hierarchy that I can copy/move to. But I didn’t find any differences in the permissions for the folders.

How are you trying to move the files? Are you dragging-and-dropping, or are you cutting (Ctrl-X) & pasting (Ctrl-V)?

Also, when you state that you are moving the files between dolphin windows, do you mean 2 separate instances of dolphin, 2 different tabs in the same dolphin window, or are you using the Split View?

I just successfully moved files between directories located on different drives using all of the above scenarios.

I guess ownership as well?

What about the folders that you want to move them to? Permissions in UNIX are a lot more complex than what you might think. :backhand_index_pointing_down:

It might also be a failing disk/faulty partition that gets remounted as read-only…

Edit:

…although, that wouldn’t explain why it works in Krusader…

Can you please specify exactly which directory hierarchy you refer to? The presumption is that source and destination are within your User directories – is that the case, or is it a foreign hierarchy such as a network location or directories on another partition?

System info?

Are you using BTRFS?

Indeed!

Note that the output produced by this command is privacy-filtered.

Please also remember to use proper code formatting as this makes it much easier to read on the Forum:

[Mini How-To] format code or command output

Select and copy all the text in the Terminal window, then paste the output in between two lines containing three backticks ``` or three tildes ~~~
Or:
Copy & paste, then highlight the pasted text and click the </> button at the top of the reply window (easier for smaller outputs).

Yes, it is
