i have enable the japanese locale, i have installed a japenese font(otf-ipafont), i have reloaded the font cache but still shows japanese text as “é¿Ä@é╡é¡é╛é│éó”(this only happens with file names and displayed names as text files are shown fine)
You don’t need to enable the japanese locale for displaying japanese characters in your file manager.
I had a problem similar to yours with some japanese music from a friend who use Windows, the filenames looked like yours, because the charset used for these files was a Windows charset.
I guess the only solution is to rename your files.
