Does the Thermal Throttling override the set CPU Governor?

I am currently manually changing the governor setting when I game on my Manjaro OS as the default governor set seems to be powersave. I manually set it to performance thought my CPU heats up.

Does the thermal throttling of the CPU override the manual Governor setting or do I need to manually tone down the Frequency of my CPU to avoid damage be it long term or short term to my CPU?

Don’t worry. The CPU will throttle itself down when it reaches certain temp limits.

Ohh Thats good, I was worried for a second there as it heats up quite a bit during gaming.
