maybe stupid question, but do i need to remove pamac-gtk
in this scenario, as i already have pamac-gtk3
but i still get the error?
Yes, you should have only one version of the pamac
GUI installed.
nevermind. i noticed i only had pamac-gtk3
. installing pamac-gtk
fixed the issue for me. thx for the help guys.
This is how I usually fix this problem… I uninstall gtk3 and move to the gtk4 version, and that will work but eventually over time, the gtk4 version will have the same problem, so switching back to the gtk3 version will fix it for a time again.
This is an ongoing bug. You will see people talking about it on this forum.
Now in my testing, if you hit the software update button after right clicking add/remove software in the menu, pamac-manager will load. You can then click on the installed tab and see all your installed software no problem. But as soon as you click on the Browse tab - crash to desktop. Refreshing the databases does not fix this problem. I have still to find the solution.
So my guess is, there is a database problem that gets corrupted for the browse tab and this gets reset when you change versions but it will eventually corrupt again.
Hope it helps as it will happen again. If I ever find a solution, I will post it.
