At this point in time, we have not decided on any deadlines just yet, because — contrary to what the various socials are saying and/or speculating — our primary hope still rests on coming to a consensus with @philm, so that we can save Manjaro as a GNU/Linux distribution.
None of us are eager to fork the distribution, but it is also crystal clear that the situation as it currently stands is unsustainable. The Manjaro distribution is suffering from structural asphyxiation, and undoubtedly, this will have its repercussions on the commercial Manjaro GmbH as well.
Therefore, something will have to give, or both the distribution and the commercial entity will perish.
We remain hopeful, and open to a dialogue with Philip Müller. But a dialogue requires at least two parties, or else it’s just a monologue. And so far one of the requisite parties is not showing up at the negotiation table. He thinks he’s doing well by stalling for time, but in doing exactly that, he’s only making things worse for everybody, himself included.
The vultures are already perching at the various socials, and Manjaro’s reputation is already being dragged through the mud even more now than it was from the usual haters who blamed Manjaro for the short-circuit between their keyboards and their chairs.
As @dennis1248 wrote on the Manjaro 2.0 Manifesto thread itself, nothing is written in stone, and we are willing to talk. But it takes two to tango, and the clock is ticking on Manjaro’s reputation out there in the world.
