Discussions regarding the Manjaro 2.0 Manifesto

200% in favour of all this. The project is going down the drain as it is and is in many aspects poorly maintained. I was actually looking for alternative as a main daily OS because i cannot imagine this will survive another year or two.

The only way to attract new developers or donators is for those people to have the feeling their voice can be heard and they can actually change anything.
Time for Phil to let go and focus on the gmbh and let the Community steer the OS. He can only benefit from it in the long term because if the OS dies so does the gmbh too.

An idea: if it goes to the next phase, it might be good to send this to some of the media like Phoronix and co and even some of the youtube talking heads (i know we don’t like them but they have a lot of followers).

So i sign. And i would gladly also become part of the e.V.

I also fully support this proposal for the Manjaro Project to split off from the Manjaro GmbH & Co KG and become a non-profit registered association (e.V.), so you can add my name to the list:

I’ve been worried about the project for a while. You can add my name as well.

while whole-heartedly agreeing with all sentiments discussed and evident, i hope no one is jumping the gun. going publicly might not necessarily help objectives because in certain like-cases in the past, these become “stalemates of attrition”, while scuttling the project in public.

i agree waiting can only go for so long, and the project is definitely in a downward trend now,

signing with hope that sanity prevails

After reading through the Manifesto, it’s difficult to find disagreement with the majority of points raised.

Manjaro (the project) is clearly in need of a sustainable infusion of resources – not the least of which being financial backing and talent – without which, Manjaro could easily join the ranks of so many Arch-based distributions that have gone silently into the night.

Despite being a lowly member of the “et. al.” group of concerned individuals (not a Manjaro Team member) I nonetheless support the initiative from an ideological standpoint.

I did want to read more, as I just got here. But I don’t think the reading material exists for what I want. I have only been boggled by some of the decisions, and very confused about Manjaro GmbH & Co KG’s business model. I just know little nuggets that slip out, usually in Member Hub.

But everything seems to align? So, where do I sign?
