Dell Inspiron touchpad settings

I just installed Manjaro, and I’m absolutely loving it! It fits my needs much better than Windows 10.

However, I struggle with one topic: fine-tuning the touchpad experience. It just isn’t the same as that in Windows. Currently, I’m struggling with two things: enabling/disabling gestures like double-tap-to-right-click and making the right button tap (aka equivalent to left button) instead of right-click. The other thing is that finer movements are more difficult. That makes accurately selecting text cumbersome. In Windows 10, it knew the difference between moving my mouse a lot and moving it a little bit. Doesn’t seem to happen in Linux, unfortunately.

I don’t know if anyone can relate to these problems, but are there any fixes? I’m a bit comfortable with terminal, but any GUI tools would be ideal, just like the Synaptics tool in Windows.

There are system info for anyone interested. Happy to be part of this wonderful community!

2 things.

Libinput is the new and default input handler.
It does not have an extreme amount of options, and with XFCE as the slowest developed DE it is possible it doesnt expose many in the GUI.
But extra packages and manual configuration together may improve your experience.
(for example … libinput-gestures package)
Please see more here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Libinput

The other thing I can suggest is the xf86-input-synaptics package, which was the old method. If installed it should take precedence over libinput. While older … it has many more options, and can sometimes be a better fit for certain hardware.
