I actually mentioned it here but it seems to have been ignored …
Is this a removable USB drive?
Out of interest, which OS is actually installed on a permanently connected disk?
It’s probably inconsequential, however:
Okay , if I say if its normal well its not ,second thing ,its not a power cut , power cuts are like for long hours , and if you wondering what country i’m from , its india , but its not actually india , like my place is an issue of conflict between three nations (India, pakistan and china) people in the parts of (Pak and china, don’t even have basic electricity) and our electricity used to be the best but after 2019 , when indian govt got more powers over us , these 2 mins cut have become very prevalent and many other issues arriving , ah let’s not discuss that here
yeah they pretty common in most of the asian/african countries
well , its the opposite , so before 2019 ,in my region if you needed to setup factory you needed to set it up in industrial area , but since the indian govt has overtaken , they are allowing factories to open up in or around residential areas , that’s why more power cuts have started to happen here ,
very true , i have seen vlogs from US and Canada , where they talked about electricity cuts
ahaha , so you mean using ‘sir’ is colonial and regressive , ah if that’s the case , we were never a british colony , we had alliance with british ,that too for a short period of 10-12 years besides that we have always been an independent state until 1947 and later in 2019
i went to sleep bro
you were close tho
oh so , you are a german , a lot of german women do come here , specially in the part of ladakh , where we still have some pure aryan genes
yeah , that’s how it is here as well
okay , i’ll look for it
okay i had already done it someone had pointed it out probably @BG405
yes it is , an external HDD 2 TB
ah ubuntu and windows on NVME
so now you want me to remove noatime?
so now you want me to remove noatime?
No, not if it works as it is.
But: it just doesn’t make sense - because swap is not a file system, where that option could apply or do anything.
No, not if it works as it is.
the system is working fine I haven’t ran a lot of programs for now to check if swap is actually working or not but on doing htop , i can see swap listed.
just chroot into it (Garuda) and do it.
hey can i do it from a manjaro live usb or should i use Garuda OS live usb only
GRUB/Restore the GRUB Bootloader - Manjaro
Essentially
also is this link opening for someone ? its not loading for me
root # grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=Some_Fancy_Name --recheck
and where will i get to edit this ?

You can use any Linux to chroot.
But the tool manjaro-chroot
makes the job easier - I don’t know whether Garuda offers a similar tool.
It might.
Arch does - it’s predictably called: arch-chroot
.
The more manual method, which works with any Linux you might have, is described here:
also is this link opening for someone ? its not loading for me

… edit?
It’s a command (here including the prompt (root # )
the command without the prompt is:
grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=Some_Fancy_Name --recheck
is the actual command (it is all one line) - you’d use it from within chroot
chroot - ArchWiki
seems risky to try the manually , manjaro-chroot is a great tool
grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=Some_Fancy_Name --recheck
[manjaro /]# grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=manjaro_m --recheckInstalling for x86_64-efi platform.
Installation finished. No error reported.
now update grub? ( sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
)
now update grub? (
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
)
the guide says so, no?
so: yes
but why sudo?
in chroot you are already root
sadly its not opening , even tried a different net connection but anyhow thanks
but why sudo?
oh yeah , ahah thanks for pointing out
pacman -Syu grub
a crude copy of that guide:
EFI System
Info
You need to be in chroot for this procedure.
Reinstall grub
root # grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=manjaro --recheck
Update the grub configuration
root # grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
a crude copy of that guide:
thanks a ton
ERROR: mkdir /var/lock/dmraid
you had asked me to ignore this error , are you sure it can be ignored?
are you sure it can be ignored?
Yes, I’m sure.
You do not have a raid …
ah raid ? i remember something of this sort to be in my bios , i guess it was raid and achi something , ah how are you so sure , i don’t have raid? i think i had two options like raid and achi
okay , you are right , i don’t need to worry , its ahci , because i have my basic drive as ssd
ah how are you so sure
Because I have seen this on my system as well.
Not in a normally booted and running system, but when in chroot.
It always worked - and: it refers to a raid that neither of us has got.
Don’t go looking for problems where there are none.

[parasetu@Pasec ~]$ uname -r
6.10.3-1-MANJARO
root # grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=manjaro --recheck
This has really worked , was greeted with a lovely manjaro bootloader, and the system booted alright with the new kernel , all other linux distros were listed but not windows , anyone knows why no windows?, so we on the right path , should i try to update grub again?
sudo update-grub
it listed windows but wasn’t displayed, wait i reboot again
Its output will be used to detect bootable binaries on them and create new boot entries.

Update :- all os are working fine and manjaro bootloader is working fine so its done , now one last job to summarize this topic , thanks everyone who helped
ahaha , so you mean using ‘sir’ is colonial and regressive
No, I just mean most (perhaps all) people I’ve seen use sir like that were from India, or at least nearby.
The root may (or may not) be in colonialism, but now it’s just a widely held mannerism or such like. However perhaps it’s more about differences in language.
Anyway, I hope I didn’t offend.
As @Nachlese pointed out, I lack a lot of knowledge about the world.
we were never a british colony , we had alliance with british ,that too for a short period of 10-12 years besides that we have always been an independent state until 1947 and later in 2019
Now I’m learning about the world.
At this point in time — and I have read through this entire, painful thread — nobody can make any sense about anything at all anymore. The OP is also — by their own admission — running a hopelessly outdated system.
Nevertheless, the problem with the EFI partition as per the topic title has been resolved, and therefore this thread has carried on for far too long already — 258 posts, not including this one!
@anukul, update your system — or reinstall, as you have been advised — and if you then still have a problem, start a new thread. But this one is going nowhere, and I’m closing it.
