Default directory for downloads changed recently?

Hello,

Recently (few weeks ago, not sure exactly when), my default download directory changed from /home/xx/Téléchargements to /home/xx/Downloads… ?

So I was wondering where are set default directories in Manjaro ?

I found that it shall be in ~/.configs/user-dirs.dirs but this file does not exists on my laptop.

Is there an other file I shall check ?

I’m not going to be much help, but I like my dl directory to be /home/fredt Between FF, Plasma and some other apps it takes me awhile to get them all to behave like I want. The settings are in each individual app, Don’t forget to check any FF addons

Indeed; likely an update to Firefox or an add-on like DownTnemAll (which I used to use).

Have you switched or cleaned out e.g. your Firefox profile recently? (Assuming this is the program you have the issue with)?

N.B.
I always change from the defaults; I don’t use /home for much other than configs; I set it to e.g. /DATA/Downloads.

it is right there if you correct the spelling mistake

~/.config/user-dirs.dirs

@Lala too
and once you changed the download directory in … firefox, for example
it will remember it - until you change it again

kinda makes sense - to me … :sunglasses:
That is how I’d want it to behave.

Run xdg-user-dirs-update in terminal and check if the file ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs is recreated in your locale.

Hi All! thank for your feedback !
let me answer :slight_smile:

So far, no effect on download in FF.

mispelling is only on forum, sorry for that. I just use “tab” to find this kind of file, cannot miss it :slight_smile: (like cd ~/.co and then tab)

likely an update to Firefox or an add-on like DownTnemAll

Maybe FF update, I didnt changed anything else recently.

After check, I see now that chromium is not affected, so I guess it may be Firefox that reset some settings after update
I will tune it back to right folder
