Can anyone please help me to learn how to open the cura slicer and open stl. files to it. I downloaded everything fine I thought but can’t get cura to open.Total newbie and lost. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this.

Are you launching through the terminal? If not then try sudo cura and see if that helps.
